How does the check-out process work?

Once you reach the end of the tenancy, please get in touch with your landlord to arrange the check-out and hand-over of the keys. Please take into consideration:
  • Contract Termination: Even if you booked for only a short stay, you may have to give notice to your landlord. Usually a notice period of 30 days is required, however, check your signed lease agreement to understand if you have to give notice earlier than that.
  • Leaving the apartment: We recommend to take photos and a video both at check-in and at check-out, to make sure that in case there are any issues with the apartment after you leave, you have visual evidence that you left the property clean and undamaged.
  • Hand-over of the keys: If you are required to leave the keys in a lock-box or mail box, make sure you stay in touch with the landlord to confirm where they are and when they were deposited.
  • Security deposit: In most cases the landlord will not return the security deposit on the day of the check-out. Even if the apartment is clean and no damages were left, the landlord may need to wait for the final utility bills to come in, before being able to review that everything was in order and processing the return of your deposit.
