How to activate your payment method for Spotahome rent collection
As a tenant with a confirmed booking in a property covered by our Plus or All-in guarantee, all monthly rent payments will be collected through Spotahome's rent collection service through Stripe, our partner payment platform.
How do I activate my SEPA Direct Debit mandate?
- After your booking is confirmed, you will receive an email from Spotahome asking you to activate a SEPA Direct Debit mandate
- Click on the orange button in the email, and you will be redirected to the Stripe platform
- Here you will need to input your bank account IBAN, the account owner's name, and the billing address
- Once done, you will not receive a confirmation email, but you will be redirected to your Tenant Panel and you will see a confirmation message
In order to activate SEPA Direct Debit payment method and be ready, you will have to be the owner of a European bank account from a SEPA country, namely one of the 36 countries that are part of the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). You can find more information here.
How do I activate my non-SEPA card ?
- After your booking is confirmed, you will receive an email from Spotahome asking you to activate your card for rent collection payments
- Click on the orange button in the email, and you will be redirected to the Stripe platform
- Here you will need to input your card details (card number, expiration date and CVC), the cardholders' name, and the billing country
- Once done, you will not receive a confirmation email, but you will be redirected to your Tenant Panel and you will see a confirmation message
We are offering this option to tenants with no footprint in a SEPA country (meaning that the nationality you set on your Spotahome profile is not from a SEPA country and the card you used to complete your Spotahome booking is not from a SEPA country).
If you haven't set up the SEPA Direct Debit mandate for your rental payments starting from the second month, Spotahome will use this card as an alternative. Please be aware that using a debit/credit card incurs an additional fee of 4% on your monthly rent. We highly recommend setting up a European bank account and completing the SEPA mandate upon your arrival in Europe to avoid these extra charges.
How does the rent collection service work?
- Automatic Debit: After the first 30 days of your tenancy, Spotahome will automatically collect the rent payment for the corresponding month from the payment method you have setup on your account. This collection will take place without any action required from your side.
- Notification: Before each future payment, Spotahome will notify you in advance. This notification serves as a reminder that a payment will be debited from your account. Rest assured that no money will be debited from your account merely by granting this authorization.
