What should I do if the landlord asks for payment outside the platform?

If the landlord asks for payment to confirm your booking, we suggest you double-checking with the landlord what kind of payment they’re requesting. 

Legit landlord may reach out to you asking for payments that you agreed to settle as per your confirmed booking (such as security deposit, landlord admin fee, etc) in which case you shouldn’t be concerned. 

However, if: 

  • the landlord asks you to make the payment  to secure your booking and it’s different from the deposit mentioned in the listing or/and you have already submitted this payment through Spotahome platform, 

  • the landlord sends you an invoice with Spotahome logo, 

  • if the offer that the landlord is making you is too good to be true

before submitting the payment, we recommend you checking with Spotahome if it’s not an attempt of scam, and you should be extra careful before sending the payment outside the Spotahome platform.
