When do I have to pay the security deposit?
The landlord will inform you before check-in when and how the security deposit has to be paid. Please review the landlord policies in the listing, as they often include some information about required payment methods and time-frames.
A landlord may also ask for the security deposit to be paid before the day of the check-in. Especially with international bank transfers, the landlord needs to make sure that the payment has reached their account in cleared funds before handing over the keys. If a payment of the security deposit is required before the check-in, please make sure to request either a signed contract, or a payment confirmation from the landlord as an additional security measure.
